1. Removal of refund system.
2. Grind to move in storyline, blocked gates (Factions)
3. Grind to move in storyline, then grind to get to PuGs (pve-only titles that ,,help'' players). Heroes were fine, I like them.
4. Ursan.

Hard-Hard Mode will have a Coventina The Matron in each mob.

For those who don't remember, without good interruptage she takes 10+ minutes to outdamage. Painful!

the fact that the game has heroes and titles it doesnt mean u NEED to have those, i still pug all the time, with whoever comes along.

i play since launch, and the game only has gotten better and better, most people dont like change be it for good or worse.

GW was always a single-player game for me, ever since Proph. It's one of the reasons I picked GW (aside from the no-monthly fee) over other MMORPGs - that you could play with henchmen instead of other people. Now, not that I didn't end up (and enjoy) playing with other people but I work graveyard so there wasn't always a lot of people on when I was, plus I enjoyed the challenge of completing the missions using just the hench. Heroes just made that part of it better, imo.

If there was one thing that I feel "changed" GW, and not neccessarily for the better perhaps, it would be the introduction of Titles.

Agreed completely. It made getting to lvl 20 like 3 hours of playing, and quests didnt give skills anymore.

The day you get kicked from a HM alliance for saying WoW rules, GW sux.

Ah well, guess I can just play H/H all the time now minus the amusing idiots on alliance chat.

Why the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO cant I just have 7 heroes?

I would LOVE this. In fact, I would love if the game was entirely rolled back to 2005.

ANet should have...

1) Screw multiple (AND STANDALONE?!) campaigns. Do expansions.

2) No stupid PvE skills. They are unique but Ursan was a nono.

3) Heroes are a mixed blessing as they killed PuGging (which was fun, it was half the thrill of the good old days) but they are ALRIGHT.

4) No IMBA skills or new classes or campaigns that rush you to level 20 - appealing to noobies was a big mistake. They should have left GW long and arduous like Prophecies - it had a nice learning curve that resulted in the players developing more experience and respect for the game than later campaigns. To everybody who says that Prophecies was "too slow lololol", you are not an MMORPG gamer. Go play an FPS. Slow learning curves and a sense of gradual character development are KEY to an MMORPG.

Anyway I wish we could just roll back the game to 2005 - and with it, all the new noobs and fags who came with the later campaigns would be gone. For a time GW was its own heaven, but new campaigns and a more noob-welcoming environment just allowed more idiots in, and, in the long run, it ruined the game.

To all who are saying "stop QQing lulz its not a big deal", I betcha you guys either did not own Prophecies as your first campaign or did not join the scene until later. Although there's no real way to show you, the game was once magnificent (well, it's still a great game now but it was even more magnificent) back in the year we called 2005. Then it broke. I do not hate all new players, mind you - in fact, I wish you were all around back when things were truly blissful.

Actually the new campaigns would have been fine if Anet didnt add any new skills. HM would have been fine if they adjusted AI and Henchmen skills accordingly rather then just
Increasing levels and attack speeds, and heroes would be fine if we could use 7

But Anet just mess up PVE when they try to change it or balance skills for PVP. Other MMOs get PVE right before PVP, thats why I personally prefer them.

Oh and /AGREE with everything that eldin just said.

It'll probably be some drop rate increase in HM - let's break the economy even more! WOO!
This is probably the 1st time GW got wrecked. The only thing I say that Factions did was introduce the assassin *don't hate me cuz I like sins plz! >.<*, ritualist, and Shiro, what could of, and arguably is, the best bad guy in GW1. Not to mention the proph arenas were mostly removed when factions came out as well, I am only glad Tombs got changed but the others....could have stayed...

I say Factions*hurt it and in some ways helped*, NF*helped with heroes*, and HM*opinion, I say help, more titles and more challenge for us PvE only people * all changed Guild Wars. Seeing the outcome now, I would of just made Factions and NightFall expansions as well, maybe just add the new professions to pre-ascalon, increase the lvl cap by 10 each game *including EN*, and remove the continent of Cantha from gameplay, just simply expand on Tyria/Elona and areas around them.

Its not so much I dislike multi-campaign, its more that I dislike the starting new characters in completely new lands*does give an original feel to a new character though* but not being able to make the profession you want in any campaign, and of course no sin/rit/derv/para armor in proph and no derv/para armor in cantha...that annoys me the most...

I would like to see some sort of special weekend besides double loot or whatever, but maybe not "Legendary Mode" or whatever you want to call it, many people, myself included, have yet to get through HM. But including it would not be a bad thing, keeps us PvE only people busy since most of the economy is falling and PvPers don't gotta worry about that. I notice alot of complaining about loot scaling...so...as a gift for the anniversery of HM...REMOVE LOOT SCALING!

I hate Factions, half the players don't own Prophecies (DAMN THEM!) or are stupid 9 year old Naruto wannabes.
I hope GW2 is like prophecies too, cept with a faster lvling rate *NOT as fast as factions*...and it's those Naruto wannabes' faults for not getting what I say is the best campaign and missing out on the original fun.

I wouldn't say GW is about titles either, just simply having fun, and many people, like myself, have fun doing titles, its our choice to want to go after whatever titles, we don't have to go after those titles that cost money...also, those titles can easily be very cheap, high end keys=high lucky+some lockpicks*yes still alot but cheaper then 600g per chest if ur lucky*, ids...farm golds/get from chests, its nearly free then. What other title are you talking about? Elite skills, yes that does need a lot of money to spend on caps, but you dont NEED to do that title, same with drunkard and sweet tooth, the 2 other money consuming titles.

I really loved to play with PUGs back at prophecies. When heroes came out, the game pretty much turned out to be a single player game. I remember when i first time played through Thunderhead Keep with a pug: I was very happy to have gotten through one of the hardest missions of the game. Now i can just bring sabway necros there and make it through with eyes closed and hands behind my back.
Also for example Sorrows Furnace was a very hard spot for me 2 years ago. I was there yesterday with a guildie who bought all the gw's 2 months back. He said it was a boring run-through. The game has gotten so much easier
To many, myself highly included, GW has always been a single-player game, since pre was only 2 person group and everything was easy, some people who actually start PLAYING in prophecies go a "no help from anyone" idea cept through 2 quests, heroes just replaced henchmen, not pugs.

comments on this:
#1)Full agree
#2)How about no ELITE PvE only, most of the pve skills are good, except for all 4 elites *ursan, volfen, raven, and lightbringer aura*
#3)I would have to agree and disagree with this *yes controversial*, Heroes are "alright" but I don't think they killed PUGs, in a way, Guilds, and in effect Alliances, killed PUGs a lot more then the heroes did. As I said above, Heroes basically changed Heroes around, I have seen many pugs wanting people above heroes.
#4)The only thing I disagree with this is the removal of new professions, although can still be good without the new professions, I like Ritualists, Assassins, and Paragons, so I cannot agree with this, but I wouldn't hate anet and stop playing if they did do that.

This was a fun Thread to read through, even though many would disagree as it seems. Thank you for the fun posts to comment on! Its been a while since I commented on this much! and for the record, I started playing during Dragon Festival 06, but I didn't play factions till about 3 weeks after playing on me *now gone * necro, and now I play on my new necro and sin...
